Jean took her role as principal shortly after the school opened in the 2004-05 school year. Holding a Masters in Educational
Leadership and a Bachelors of Science in Education with Emphasis in Art from Northern Arizona University, she is always looking for new and creative ways to keep others encouraged and inspired. Her first administrative actions included making changes to the school that would break the mold and create an environment that was unlike more traditional high schools. With a smaller student population, Jean was able to execute her goal to establish a family-like atmosphere that students feel comfortable learning in, feel more than just a number in, and feel like they belong in.
Jean’s views remain her focus through today and the AoBI family continues to grow. Word of mouth from current students to that of potential students and their friends is one of the most valuable tools used for recruitment. Her continuous dedication to supporting a strong team of staff helps ensure the students utilization of that tool in the community. Students will talk with their friends, their parents, and others about a school they enjoy attending.
Master of Arts in Health Psychology
Rainee joined the staff at the Academy when it opened for its first year in 2004-05. Holding Master of Arts in Health Psychology she actively executes the offices of Student Services (Registrar/Enrollment, Guidance/Counseling, Records, and Attendance). Rainee takes a no-nonsense approach which allows her to be more dynamic in finding fast and efficient resolutions to student issues. Leaving no room for cookie-cutter procedures, many students find her easy to get along with, talk to, and go to with their concerns.
Coy joined the team at the Academy in 2005 as the instructor of the welding and metals classes. Today, Coy not only oversees the
welding and automotive courses, but he is also the Vocational Director managing the entire vocational department.
Coy’s background experience in welding and machine technology has lead him to rewarding highlights throughout his career, including owning and operating his own engine and automotive business for over 20 years.
SPED / Resource
With over 25 years of teaching experience, Pat holds a Bachelors of Science in Special Education from Ball State University. Pat joined
the staff at the Academy in 2007 and is currently the Special Education teacher, 504 coordinator, Title 1 testing coordinator, and AIMS/Terra Nova testing coordinator.
She teaches a variety of subjects to special education students throughout the day. Special Education students can also be sent to her room by request of the classroom teacher or the students themselves to receive extra help on work they are unable to complete in the regular classroom.
Jeri has served the Academy of Building Industries since its launch in 2004, starting as an Instructional Aide and eventually becoming the Business Manager. Since college, Jeri’s primary focus has been centered in business leading her to many opportunities throughout her career ranging in positions from receptionist to service representative and management.
At the Academy, Jeri fulfills a wealth of duties from purchasing to Human Resources in addition to instructing two elective Business Math classes. These classes teach students the basics in business mathematics, inventory, and cash register operation.
